  Trustee Bowden

  Trustee BowdenMr. Bowden earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a PhD in Zoology from
the University of Connecticut where he met Joan Rigney, his wife.
After two years at Bridgewater State College in Massachusetts, they moved to Alfred where he has been a member of the Division of Biology at Alfred University, teaching courses in human and vertebrate biology. Mr. Bowden has always been actively involved in advising students interested in careers in the health professions and for many years coordinated two annual campus blood drives, the annual Miller Lecture on Ethical Issues in Medicine and the H.O. Burdick Memorial Lecture in Biology. Mr. Bowden is a member of the Northeast Association of Advisors for the Health Professions and a member of the Executive Committee since 1988, serving as Program Chair for two northeast regional meetings, President for two years and currently as Treasurer. He has also served on the National Health Professions Advisors Board as Secretary for two years. Mr. Bowden previously served on the Village of Alfred Zoning Board of Appeals for 7 years has three grown children, Amy, Judy and Brad, as well as two grandchildren.
